PROF. DR. WOLF-RÜDIGER BUB

Prof. Dr. Bub is a founding partner of Bub Memminger & Partner. He has over 40 years of professional experience and is one of the most renowned business lawyers in Germany. His practice focuses on corporate, compliance and contract law, with a special focus on litigation. Prof. Dr. Bub has successfully accompanied court proceedings and official investigations at all levels of government. In addition to civil, constitutional, fiscal, administrative, labour and criminal proceedings before numerous courts of instance in Germany, he has successfully represented clients before the Federal Supreme Court (as a correspondence lawyer), the Federal Constitutional Court, the Federal Fiscal Court, the Federal Administrative Court and the European Court of Justice. As one of only a few lawyers in Germany, he has conducted proceedings in which his opinion on a WEG issue was accepted by a decision of the Joint Senate of the Supreme Courts. Prof. Dr. Bub has assisted plaintiffs and defendants in some of the best-known proceedings of recent decades, usually as team leader. In addition, he has acted as arbitrator in numerous proceedings, but also as mediator in the avoidance or settlement of such proceedings. His particular expertise lies in the strategic planning and execution of complex business processes and negotiations, in proceedings that are of particular personal and financial importance to clients. In addition to his early specialization in all areas of real estate and construction law with a further focus on commercial law, corporate law and restructuring, his development into a generalist covering all areas of law, but also his experience from his entrepreneurial career, which began during his studies and continues to this day, benefits these clients.

Before founding the law firm Bub Memminger & Partner, Prof. Dr. Bub headed the highly respected law firm Bub Gauweiler & Partner for many years, founded, built up and managed several medium-sized German real estate companies as well as various other companies, and via his family office was an active investor in over 60 companies and start-ups in various sectors (real estate companies, financial service providers, banks, art auction houses, etc.). Numerous executive, supervisory and advisory board positions in Germany and abroad are an expression of the esteem in which his economic knowledge and expertise is held.

In addition to his professional activities, Prof. Dr. Bub is also active as a volunteer in various institutions and organizations as well as charitable and cultural causes and has been or is active in the following functions, for example:

• President of the Dachverband Deutscher Immobilienverwalter (1988-2000) and Honorary President (since 2000), Member of the Executive Board of the Verband der Immobilienverwalter Bayern (since 1980)
• Chairman of the Association of Friends and Sponsors of the Law Faculty of the University of Potsdam e.V. (1993-2008), then Treasurer (2008-2018), Founder of the Wolf-Rüdiger Bub Prize
• Part-time member of the Berlin and Brandenburg Judicial Examination Office (from 1998, 2010-2017 as examination chairman),
• Personal member and scientific advisor of the Evangelischer Immobilienverband in Deutschland (EID, formerly ESW) since 2001,
• Member of the Board of Trustees of the St. Michael Music Foundation in Munich
• Member and sponsor of the Pianistenclub München e.V. and
• Member of the Board of Trustees of the Neues Konzerthaus München Foundation.

Prof. Dr. Bub is also an honorary professor at the University of Potsdam, author or editor of over 100 scientific works and treatises and, as a special acknowledgement for his services, bearer of the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon. On his 60th birthday he was honoured with a commemorative publication.

Prof. Dr. Bub passed away on 1 November 2022.
